EU-Vietnam agreement to boost FDI investment in Vietnam

After curtailing the COVID-19 outbreak in its wake and being the only economy whose GDP expanded in Q2 2020, Vietnam adds yet another feather in their cap with the success of EU-Vietnam Free Trade Agreement (EVFTA). This means better access to the local markets of Vietnam to European companies and vice versa.

Netherlands ranked first with 344 projects worth USD 10.05 billion, accounting for 39.43% of total EU investment in Vietnam, by the end of 2019. Iwan Rutjens, first secretary of the business division at The Dutch Embassy in Hanoi, was quoted in Vietnam Explorer, “By taking advantage of the Dutch expertise and technology innovation, Vietnam will have the opportunity to go further and diversify the economy, while improving the competitiveness of domestic enterprises. Dutch businesses which have invested in Vietnam will take actions to increase the capital, expand production to catch market opportunities”.
